Rare medicines stolen from Beni Messous hospital to be smuggled to Morocco
Algiers Sidi M'hamed Court of misdemeanors will consider on July 23, the file of "embezzlement of public funds at the hospital of Beni Messous, where seven defendants, including a Moroccan national, and other staff in charge of distributing drugs on the heads of obstetrics services at the hospital, and Supervisor of a the pharmacy stakeholders, are involved in the issue of smuggling rare medicines and pharmaceuticals to Morocco, as they will answer questions by the judge of misdemeanors about their relationship with the charges of embezzlement of public funds and trading in rare medicines, then selling them to private illegally, and the smuggling of rare and expensive pharmaceuticals related to the surgery and narcotic drugs, and the misdemeanor of medicines theft after amplifying the requests of maternity services, and delivered the desired part for the services, and keep the rest for themselves.
According to Echorouk sources, the department of Beni Messous hospital, is the civil party in the case to claim for damages that weresuffered by the hospital due to the embezzlement of medicines that were smuggled to Morocco, as details of the case were discoveredearly on March of the current year, after security services at the level of the train station "Agha" in Algiers, arrested one of the defendants, a so-called "L.M", who was carrying a bag containing medicines that are used in surgeries, including a rare medicine that is absent in the Algerian market.
Quantity of smuggled medicines is 54 boxes, while security services arrested a second defendant, "B.A" in the same day and place, when he was leave towards the city of Oran, and smuggling bags that contained threads of surgery, rare and expensive medicines, making thesecurity services prepare reports and open depth investigation in the issue.
