Italian political party calls for the restitution of the rights of the Saharawi people

ROME – The Italian Party of Communist Refoundation (PRC) adopted a resolution on Western Sahara at its last congress calling for the return of all the rights of the Saharawi people living under Moroccan military occupation for 36 years, said on Tuesday in Rome.

The resolution passed unanimously by its eighth national congress held in early December in Naples, the PRC called for “an immediate end to the persistent violation of human rights in the occupied territories, and the release of all Saharawi political prisoners. ”

The delegates also called for “the implementation of all UN resolutions concerning the right to self-determination of the Saharawi people, particularly the organization of the referendum without delay.”

They called on Morocco to “respect fundamental human rights in the occupied territories and to end discrimination against the Sahrawi”, and “the extension of MINURSO’s mandate to protect human rights “in Western Sahara.

In this resolution, the PRC said his appeal was addressed to the Italian Government, the European Union, the United Nations, international organizations, human rights and Associations of Solidarity with the Saharawi people “.

This call has also been sent” to the movements of Moroccan civil society defending the rights and freedoms of man and all citizens of good will , “urging them to advocate a view to bringing an end to” the intolerable violence exercised against the Saharawi people. “

The delegates also urged” national institutions (Italian) and international to take appropriate measures against Morocco to get him to accept the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination through a free and democratic, in accordance with relevant resolutions of the UN General Assembly and Security Council “.
