Spain - The Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs meets with the United Nations envoy for Western Sahara

The Secretary of State for Foreign and Ibero-American Affairs, Juan Antonio Yáñez-Barnuevo, met with Christopher Ross, the personal envoy for Western Sahara of the United Nations' General Secretary, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.

The visit forms part of Christopher Ross' second tour of the capitals of member countries of the Group of Friends of Western Sahara, which he began in Washington on 14 October. After Madrid, Ross will visit Paris, Moscow, London and Geneva.

In the meeting, Yáñez-Barnuevo and Ross examined the state of the negotiations between Morocco and the Polisario Front concerning Western Sahara and analysed the efforts being made within the United Nations to reach a fair and lasting political settlement which will be acceptable to both sides, according to the principles and purposes of the United Nations' Charter.
