Infinite project

Infinite is a project realiced in the Saharawis refugee camps in Tindouf. Is incredible the history of the Saharawi people who live since more than 36 years in exile. Fighting a peaceful way with projects as Artifariti. The Sahara, under hard conditions of life, living in the so called “the desert of the deserts” a land that has no end, where time doesn’t exist. This mystic culture, full of magic is in a political conflict whose solution isn´t appropriate for many countries, including mine.

The old Saharawi’s villages that are found in the Moroccan occupied Western Sahara, have been and continue today being victims of crimes against humanity. Are separated from the liberated Sahara by “the wall of shame” a military wall, defended with large military forces on the front line, and protected with millions of land mines by the liberated part.

Say that art crosses borders, after seeing the reality I am proud to contribute mi little grain of sand, transmitting a message of peace and freedom.

El-melhfa is a four-meter long by one-meter wide piece of fabric. It is not any ordinary piece of cloth; it is the symbol of the Saharawi heritage, beauty, and resistance. Many people may view it as a religious, specifically Muslim symbol. But El-melhfa, above all, is cultural and unique to the Saharawi people, used by every ethnic and religious groups within the Saharawi population. It comes in variety of colors, patterns and materials. It can be one color, three or ten. It may be simple or with artistic shapes and patterns or even with the flag of Western Sahara. El-melhfa has different names depending on the colors and the material it is made of. Sometimes, it gets its name from the age group of women. Secretary-General appoints Colin Stewart of Canada as Special Representative for Western Sahara and Head of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres today announced the appointment of Colin Stewart of Canada as his Special Representative for Western Sahara and Head of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO). Mr. Stewart succeeds Kim Bolduc of Canada, who completed her assignment on 22 November 2017.  The Secretary-General is grateful to Ms. Bolduc for her strong leadership and perseverance over the course of her tenure.
