French military helicopters in Mali

Helicopters of the French army arrived Saturday in Gao, northern Mali to participate in the research of French nationals kidnapped in the south of the country a few days ago, Malian security sources said.

In addition to the helicopters that landed Saturday in Gao, French soldiers were also sent to the same region, the sources said, as part of research operations of French nationals kidnapped Thursday in the town of Hombori in southern Mali.

Two French, geologists according to Malian sources, were abducted Thursday. The next day, Friday three Europeans, a British, a Swedish and a Dutch, have been abducted in their turn in the tourist town of Timbuktu, while a fourth, a German, was killed after resisting his captors.

The agreements signed between France and countries like Mali, Mauritania, Niger and Burkina Faso; allow her military intervention in these countries.
The Algeria rejects any military intervention in the Sahel in the framework of the fight against terrorism it conducts in collaboration with the countries of the Sahel.
