Gaddafi's body will not undergo an autopsy

Libyan officials said they would not undergo an autopsy on the body of the former leader Muammar Gaddafi, who was killed Thursday afternoon near his hometown of Sirte, an official of the NTC said.

"No autopsy will be performed on the body of Muammar Gaddafi, neither now nor another day," he told reporters.

The former leader Gaddafi, aged 69, in power for 42 years, was on the run since late August, after the fall of Tripoli. He was captured alive on Thursday after a Nato air raid which had reached the procession of Colonel gaddafi. Soon after, he was tortured and then killed, he, and his son Moatassim Billah.

The remains of the former strong man of Tripoli and his son Moatassim are exposed in Misrata where thousands of people lined up to see their dead bodies lying on the ground side by side
